Do you take my insurance?

It is important to understand that we can take most insurances but only "participate" with 2 specific insurances. This means that your insurance would consider us an out of network dentist unless we participate. We are more than happy to bill your insurance company for you as a courtesy, and whatever balance remains unpaid by your insurance, you are responsible for. Also, certain insurances will not send us a reimbursement check. They will only send it directly to the patient. In such cases, the patient will be responsible to pay for services rendered on the day of service. We will happily submit to your insurance and they will reimburse you directly. If you are unsure about your specific insurance, check with your Human Resource Department, or call your insurance company directly. They sould be more than happy to give you any information you might need.

Does Dr. Marshall see children and at what age?

Dr. Marshall has a great rapoire with children and goes to every effort to make sure that each dental experience is a positive and comfortable one. If a child has needs that are greater than what the Dr. feels he can accommodate, he is certain to refer them to one of our Pediatric Dentists who are properly equipped and specially trained to meet the needs of our little patients. Dr. Marshall recommends that you bring your child to one of your cleaning appointments when they are 3-4 years old, so they can see your positive experience and not be afraid or apprehensive about treatment. Regular treatment and cleanings can begin for children at or sooner if a problem arises.

Why do you recommend I have a cleaning every three months instead of every six?

To maximize the benefit from professional cleanings, some patient's teeth require special attention. Three month cleanings are only recommended if we are given cause to believe that it is necessary. By following a good home care regimen and more frequent cleanings, plaque and bacteria can be kept to a minimum, helping you to achieve your optimal dental health. While more frequent cleanings are only a recommendation, you are always free to choose whatever option you feel is best for you.

Do I have to pay on the day of service?

Yes, unless prior arrangements have been made with our office staff. We are a fee for service practice, so co pays and deductibles are due the same day. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. As a courtesy, when more expensive treatment is scheduled, we can split your balance into two payments. One due at the first appointment and one due at the last appointment. If further asssistance is needed, you may be able to take advantage of our Care Credit Program. A member of our office staff would be happy to explain this program in more detail if you are interested, or you can visit their website and apply directly at:

Are x-rays really necessary?

Xrays are our best tool to see if there is any decay lurking in areas that we cannot otherwise see with the naked eye. We recommend taking Bitewing x rays one time per year. Without them we cannot properly diagnose potential problems. A small and easily fixed problem can turn into a very large and more expensive alternative if xrays are not used. To achieve and maintain your optimal dental health, x rays are necessary for proper diagnosis.
